Edit Pitch Curve

This page lets you edit the pitch curve for the selected sound.

The pitch curve is defined as the deviation from the root pitch, over time.

Pitch curves are usually created via the automatic import.

  • Pitch nodes / points the small square represent data points in the pitch curve.
  • Zoom time controls the horizontal bar shows the location of pitch point nodes in terms of a percentage of the sound length. You can zoom in using your mouse wheel or the zoom buttons.
  • Zoom range controls the vertical axis represents pitch, with the centre of the range being the root note. You can zoom in and out by using your mouse wheel over the right side of the screen, or using the zoom buttons.
  • Marquee selection mode in this mode dragging will create a box, selecting nodes within the box.
  • Range selection mode in this mode dragging will create a time range, selecting all nodes within the time range

Editing Curves

  • Double click the graph to create a node
  • Double click a node to delete it
  • Click and drag areas to select nodes
  • Click and drag selected nodes to move them
  • Command click a node to de-select it from a group

Stereo Sounds

If your sound is stereo, you get some additional options.

  • Left and Right Channel Buttons allows you to select a specific channel for copying or editing.
  • You can also select a specific channel by clicking and dragging above or below the cycles positions graph.
  • Solo buttons allow you to solo the left or right channel of the sound.

Copying and Pasting to one channel only

  • Click and drag an area and bring your mouse above or below the graph to select nodes in one channel only, ready to copy.
  • Click the left or right channel button to select a destination channel to paste to.

Patch Controls

  • Pitch Curve Amount to Osc this control defines how much the pitch curve affects the UltraWave sound playback. When set to 0% the pitch curve is ignored. When set to 100% the pitch will be fully affected by the amount of each node.

Pitch Curve Functions

  • Select All Points selects all nodes in the graph.
  • Copy Copies the selected nodes to the clipboard.
  • Paste At Cursor pastes copied nodes to the graph, placing the first point at the cursor position.
  • Paste At Original Position pastes copied nodes to the graph, placing them at the same position that they occupied in the source sound.
  • Delete Points removes selected modes from the graph.
  • Zoom to Fit zooms the vertical range so that all nodes are shown in the graph.
  • Zoom Center zoom vertically placing the root note at the vertical center of the graph.
  • Zoom to Kick Drum range zooms to a range from +8 Octaves to -1 Octaves. This is useful for creating kick drum curves manually.
  • Lock Horizontal when locked, dragging nodes will only change the vertical position, leaving them at the same location in the timeline.
  • Set to Root adjust the selected nodes so that their vertical position is at the root note.
  • Smooth smooth the selected nodes to remove spiky outlier nodes.
